I would like to buy Ripple (XRP), but what's a destination tag?

When you buy Ripple (XRP) on our platform, we ask you to enter a receiving address and a destination tag. 

You must copy the receiving address from your wallet and paste it on the order form of BTC Direct. This way we know where to send the XRP.

Are you sending the XRP to your own wallet? Then leave the destination tag blank and proceed with the order.

Are you sending the XRP to an exchange? Then you need to fill in a destination tag. This is a number sequence which functions like a payment reference and it's given to you by the exchange you're sending the ripples to.
