To ensure your sell order is processed smoothly, it’s essential to send your Ethereum (ETH) promptly and with appropriate network fees.
Key points to consider:
-
Transaction speed and fees:
Ethereum (ETH) transactions can have variable fees based on network activity. Fees (commonly referred to as "gas fees") may increase significantly during periods of high network usage. It’s important to select an appropriate gas fee to ensure your transaction is processed promptly. -
Time limit:
To complete your sell order with BTC Direct, your ETH must be received within 3 hours of creating the sell order. Transactions not received within this window may result in delays or cancellations.
ERC20 tokens which we also offer on our platform (sent via the Ethereum network):
- DOGE
- LINK
- OP
- PEPE
- SHIB
- UNI
- USDC
- USDT
In addition to Ethereum (ETH), the ERC20 tokens stated above can also be transferred. These tokens follow similar fee structures and considerations as ETH. Ensure to account for the specific token’s requirements when calculating network fees.
How to calculate network fees:
-
Default gas fee:
Gas fees are measured in gwei, and the exact amount depends on the complexity of the transaction and current network activity. Ensure you select a fee that guarantees quick processing. -
Checking the current gas fee:
Use reliable tools like Etherscan Gas Tracker to check the current recommended gas fee. This website provides real-time data on Ethereum network activity and recommended fees for different transaction speeds. -
Send from a wallet platform:
We strongly recommend sending your ETH from a wallet platform rather than an exchange. Wallets usually allow better control over gas fees and ensure faster processing compared to exchanges. -
Token-specific considerations:
-
Some tokens, such as USDT and USDC, are widely used and may experience higher gas fees due to demand.
-
Tokens like PEPE or SHIB, being newer or more volatile, may have unpredictable gas fee requirements. Monitor the network conditions closely when transferring these tokens.
-
Additional advice:
- Verify address: Double-check the recipient address before initiating the transaction.
-
Send only one transaction per order:
To avoid processing errors, send only one transaction per sell order. BTC Direct can only link one transaction to your order. If multiple successful transactions are sent, the order may not be completed correctly. -
How to confirm your transaction:
- Use Etherscan: After sending your ETH, visit Etherscan to confirm that your transaction has been processed.
- Input your wallet address: Enter your sending wallet address in the search bar. This will display a list of all transactions associated with your wallet.
- Locate your transaction: Find the transaction that matches the recipient address and amount you sent. Ensure the transaction status is marked as “Success” to confirm it has been processed and received.
- Confirmation details: If the transaction is still pending or marked as failed, you may need to adjust your gas fee or resubmit the transaction.
What happens if the transaction is delayed?
If your ETH is received after the 3-hour window, the sell order may not be processed. In this case, we will contact you to arrange for the ETH to be returned to your wallet address.
Please note that sending the ETH back to your wallet address may take at least one month due to the manual processing involved. We strongly encourage timely transactions to avoid such delays.
By following these steps and ensuring your transaction meets the requirements, you can complete your sell order with BTC Direct without unnecessary delays.
