Trust Wallet is a popular cryptocurrency wallet that allows you to store, send, and receive various cryptocurrency. We created a step-by-step guide to help you get started with the Trust Wallet browser extension.
Step 1: Install Trust Wallet
- Visit the Trust Wallet official website and locate the download page for the browser extension.
- Click on “Add to Chrome” (or any supported browser) and confirm to install the extension. Once installed, you will see the Trust Wallet icon in your browser toolbar.
Step 2: Create a new wallet or import an existing wallet
- Click on the Trust Wallet icon in your browser's toolbar to launch the extension.
- Click “Create New Wallet.”
- Set a strong password for security. Ensure you use a password that is difficult to guess and store it in a safe place.
- Trust Wallet will provide you with a 12-word seed recovery phrase. Write this down and store it securely. This phrase is critical for wallet recovery, and if lost, you may lose access to your funds.
- Verify your recovery phrase by entering it in the correct order as prompted.
Import your existing wallet:
- Open the Trust Wallet extension.
- Click on “Import Wallet.”
- Enter your existing recovery phrase to restore your wallet.
Step 3: Add cryptocurrency to your wallet
- Open the extension and log in.
- On the main dashboard, you will see your wallet's balances.
- To add a specific cryptocurrency, click on the “+” icon or search for the token.
Once added, you can see your balance, and the wallet will automatically detect tokens sent to your address.
Step 4: Send or receive cryptocurrency (from or to BTC Direct)
To send cryptocurrency:
- Open the Trust Wallet extension.
- Select the cryptocurrency you want to send.
- Click on “Send.”
- Enter the recipient's wallet address and the amount you want to send.
- Confirm the transaction.
To receive cryptocurrency:
- Open the extension and select the cryptocurrency you want to receive.
- Click on “Receive.”
- You will see your wallet address and a QR code. Share the address or QR code with the sender.
Security tips
- Backup your recovery phrase: store it in multiple secure locations offline.
- Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for your browser and any associated accounts for added security.
- Only use Trust Wallet on trusted websites to avoid phishing scams.
- Do not share your recovery phrase or private keys with anyone.
- Lock your wallet after use by closing the extension or logging out.
