To speed up a BTC transaction in the mempool, go to https://mempool.space/. Here, enter your transaction ID at the top right.
1. How do you find your transaction ID?
You can find your transaction ID in your wallet when you press send coins. You can also find your transaction ID by pasting the receipt address of where you sent them to in https://www.blockchain.com/explorer. Here you enter the receipt address and then you will see the transaction ID appear:
You can copy the transaction ID here, or click on this and copy the transaction ID on the next page where you can also see it in full directly:
Once you have copied the transaction ID, we can start accelerating the transaction. To do this, we go to https://mempool.space/, where we paste the transaction ID in the top right corner:
Here we see the following, the arrows on the right indicate where to paste the transaction ID and where the transaction ID appears next. The arrow on the left indicates where your transaction currently sits in order of blocks yet to be processed.
Next, we click Accelerate
The following screen now appears:
We now see 3 possible payment options here, the QR code on the left is a lightning payment, we will not use it in this case. On the right we see here Apple Pay and Google Pay, we will use Apple Pay for this transaction. At the time of testing, Apple Pay was not working for me on the computer, so I copied the transaction ID and opened it on my phone. Here, I immediately see the following screen appear:
Check here that you have copied the correct transaction and then click on accelerate.
Then choose Apple Pay or Google Pay
Click again on the payment method you just selected, and settle the payment:
Once the payment is successful, you will see the following screen: This is confirmation that the transaction will be expedited and that the payment has succeeded.
You will then see the following screen:
As we can see here, the white arrow indicating where the transaction is now located has changed to a yellow/gold arrow that has moved directly forward. As soon as one of the following mining pools is now block minded, your transaction will be processed. The miners working on this supply about 19.2% of all hashrate. This means that your chance of processing the transaction earlier is greatly accelerated.
From now on, all we have to do is wait for one of the 4 pools to pick up this transaction and thus the coins will be sent to the specified wallet address. Once the arrow moves along the white dotted line, then we know that the transaction has been processed in a block and the coins will appear in our wallet after about 2 confirmations.
